Faculty of Management Technology, formerly known as the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, boasts a rich and evolving history. It began in 1979 at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Agricultural Campus of the Vocational and Technological College, where it offered Higher Vocational Certificate programs in Agricultural Business Management. Subsequently, the campus was renamed Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus (Saiyai).
In 1989, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration began offering Higher Vocational Certificate programs in Agricultural Business Management and Business Computer programs. The faculty continued to expand its offerings, introducing new undergraduate programs in Management and Marketing in 2002 and 2003, respectively. The Computer Information Systems program was added in 2005, followed by the Accounting program in 2006.
To better address the needs of business administration education and align with the university’s strategic goals, the Faculty of Management Technology was officially established in 2008. This new faculty was formed to provide a focused business administration curriculum distinct from the scientific orientation of the previous Faculty of Science and Technology. The new faculty offered four core programs: Management, Accounting, Marketing, and Information Systems Management.
The establishment of the Faculty of Management Technology aimed to enhance educational opportunities for students in Nakhon Si Thammarat and the surrounding central southern region, about 200 kilometers from the Business Administration Faculty in Songkhla. This strategic move was intended to improve accessibility and convenience for students from Nakhon Si Thammarat and nearby provinces, in line with the university’s policy to expand educational access.
On July 25, 2008, the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya council formally approved the establishment of the Faculty of Management Technology at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus (Sai Yai). The faculty was created to fulfill the university’s policy framework and to address the demands of the labor market and the community effectively.
